   Joseph,

   Thanks for reading my post on Tested. I’m wondering if anyone is using it in a preservice class, as I’m not sure whether it could be a very discouraging read for people at that point in their careers.

   You’ve got great blog here – I enjoy visiting and dropping in on what you’re doing in your teaching.

   Jane, thanks for the kind words about the blog. It’s a bit of a new experience, but I am enjoying it. We have it for a graduate class for practicing science teachers (3+ years experience). As for “Tested”, I was interviewed by Linda while she was writing the book, so it has special meaning for me. Some of us at my school are reading it to get a sense of what’s going on these days. It’s good to put words to some of the lived experiences. As for whether it is discouraging, I think it is what it is. Reality can’t be denied sometimes. I think that teaching is hard to go into these days, but I still find it a worthwhile endeavor. And, my school is nothing like the one in Linda’s book. Not yet anyway. My hope is that we come around someday. I’m trying to know hope.
